We are currently accepting applications for Volunteer Dance Teachers for our Summer Program (July 8th - August 9th) and for our September '25 School Year. Groove With Me is a free dance school for girls in East Harlem. It engages girls during the idle out-of-school hours when 90% of youth violence occurs; and seeks to decrease teen pregnancy, truancy, crime, violence, prostitution, substance abuse and gang related activity. East Harlem has the highest unmet need for after school programming of any neighborhood in NYC. By volunteering you provide much needed out-of-school time safety - and arts programming.

How you can get involved:

Volunteer Teacher - Teaching at GWM requires a full-year commitment (September - June). During the course of the year, you prepare your students for Parent Observation and Participation (POP) Week in December and the End of Year Recital in June. There are also opportunities to perform at community events. We welcome all styles of dance!

Master Classes - If you're unable to give a full-year commitment, there is still an opportunity to teach! We often like to introduce our girls to professional dancers/choreographers for a one-time (or more) class where they can learn new choreography and dance styles.

Subbing - Our teachers are great but sometimes things come up! We are always in need of dancers who can fill in and sub for a dance class when the regularly scheduled teacher can't make it.

Chaperone our Spring Recital - One-time event on Saturday, June 23rd (from 10am - 5pm) at the United Palace Theatre!
