The 4th annual Iowa Choreography Festival is an art experience bringing multiple artists together to create new work. Iowa Dance Theatre proudly supports us as a non-profit festival. As a dancer, you will be matched with a choreographer who will create a movement-based piece in collaboration with a musician and visual artist. Choreographers will represent a variety of dance/movement genres, and you will be placed with a choreographer based on your audition, stated interest, and your choreographer's needs. This is to encourage collaboration and communication within the community. Dancers are expected to be open to this process and may take an active role in the creation of the piece. While we are a performance opportunity, it is essential that we also allow all admitted artists to expand their horizons with classes from multiple art forms. We will have a week-long movement workshop free of charge for all accepted artists. There will also be classes throughout the summer taught by admitted artists that are donation-based.
