Application Deadline: 2/28/25; rolling applications
Thie event is an opportunity to bring together the Jazz Dance community for a night of dance and connection. Choreographers who's submissions are accepted are invited to share works in progress wtih audience for peer feedback. The feedback portion gives the choreographers opportunities to share their work, approach and process to their piece while receiving developmental feedback and engaging with their community. After choreographers have shown their work, there will be time for community socializing. The work will be shown in-studio, DPRdance will offer minimal theatrical lighting to assist the choreographers in sharing the intention for the future realization of their pieces as well as stationary video placed from the center rear of the audience.
Works in progress are defined as incomplete dance pieces, dance pieces that are complete but have not performed, or dance pieces that have performed, but are being developed and changed by the choreographer. We are requesting that all pieces have a connection to jazz dance- musical theater, jazz fusions, and social dance are all encouraged to apply. Dances do not have to be "pure" jazz- there is opportunity in our application for choreographers to explain their relationship to jazz dance.
