DANCER CALL – MAY 24 PERFORMANCE
Kinetics with Karley is casting 2 performers for the next iteration of our immersive performance series:
- Performance Date: Saturday, May 24 | Show: 7:30 PM
- Call Time: 3:00/3:30 PM
- Location: Satellite Art Show, NYC

This is a 1-hour experimental performance and part of Growing Takes Time — a larger immersive work-in-progress that blends childhood games, Jiu-Jitsu, and contact improvisation into a live arcade-style experience.
Audience members move through the space like players in a game, triggering tasks, relationships, and conflict in real time.

NOTE: This is NOT full-out dancing for an hour—there are built-in pauses where you’ll be still, waiting, or inviting interaction, like an arcade character awaiting activation.

? What we’re looking for:

-Strong background in contact improvisation, partnering, and/or Jiu-Jitsu

-Immersive performance experience—must be confident engaging with audience members

-Comfortable with playful intimacy, including satirical sensuality (Jiu-Jitsu-based positioning, scoots, eye contact, giggles)

-Comfortable blocking eyebrows (part of costuming/character look)

-Comfortable making verbal sounds (e.g., Pikmii-style noises, growls, and grunts)

? Rehearsals:

-Three 2-hour rehearsals | Times TBD based on mutual availability

? Compensation:

-Base pay: $100 performance day

-RESHEARSAL COMPENSATION: $20 per hour ($120 total)

-Additional pay may be added based on ticket sales & donation split

-Early collaborators are first in line for future iterations, which offer higher base pay as the work develops (as seen in BoneDaddy’s Bacchanal)

? TO SUBMIT:
Email kineticswithkarley@gmail.com by May 8, 2025 @ midnight EST with:

1. Performance resume

2. Performance reel (1 min max, must include: contact/partnering, immersive interaction, and contemporary choreography)

!!Come play, grapple, and grow!!
