Call for Dancers: Apply to Calpulli’s Summer Rehearsals and Residency

Calpulli Mexican Dance Company is seeking dancers to participate in a summer project focused on preparing new Arts-in-Education (AIE) assembly performances and small-scale touring programs for Fall 2025 and beyond.

Rehearsals – July 2025
Following our performance at Jacob’s Pillow, Calpulli will begin reviewing and setting over 40 dances from our repertoire. Rehearsals will be open to all company members, including apprentices and volunteers.

- Rehearsals will be paid at minimum wage
- Attendance is required for eligibility in upcoming AIE and touring performances
- Priority will be given to dancers available for weekday, daytime engagements

Residency – August 4–8, 2025
The company will hold a full-day residency (10:00 AM–4:00 PM) at the Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning. During this week, we will finalize choreography, transitions, narration, and technical elements for the new assembly programs. Each program will be filmed in the Blackbox Theatre to create archival and training materials.

About the Project
For over 20 years, Calpulli has brought Mexican dance to schools through assembly-style performances. We are now formalizing these offerings with new structure, production elements, and four thematic programs:

- Fiesta Mexicana! (Traditional dances from across Mexico)
- Time of the Marigold (Día de Muertos)
- Viva Puebla: Fiesta de Cinco de Mayo
- Dances of the First People of Mexico (Native Mexico)
