WHO ARE WE

Co-Founders Ashley Daigle and Chaery Moon, are professional performers, choreographers, published writers, and dance educators based out of NYC and the greater tri-state area!

 

Chaery Moon embarked on her dance journey with the Korean National Ballet and the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts, earning early recognition by winning the Tanzolymp in Berlin. She received her BFA at The Juilliard School and later joined Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon. Upon returning to the U.S., Moon pursued an MFA in Dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Since then, she has been creating works that merge physical movement with the intricacies of human experience through collaboration with artists from various disciplines. In 2017, she founded Chaery Moon Dance, where she creates works for stage, film, and site-specific performances. Her creations have garnered recognition and support from NYFA, the Korean government, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, Downtown Brooklyn, and the Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation. Her writing has been published in Dance and People and Dance magazines in South Korea. She is a certified Cunningham Technique® instructor and frequently participates in projects affiliated with the Merce Cunningham Trust.

 

Ashley Daigle began her formal dance instruction in Manchester, Connecticut. Ashley chose to further her pre-professional studies at Goucher College where she received her BA in Dance and studied abroad at Taipei National University of the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan.  After graduation, she moved her dance roots to Chicago where she was a student with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Scholarship Program and a featured Guest Artist with Ruth Page Civic Ballet.

In 2019, Ashley continued her dance studies in New York, receiving her MFA from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Since graduation she has choreographed for Georgetown University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Burklyn Ballet Theatre, and Mile Square Theatre. She most recently served as a Visiting Professor in Dance at Wesleyan University.

Ashley is currently a Faculty member with Hoboken Dance Academy. In addition, she continues to be Adjunct Faculty at New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Summer High School Program. Ashley is a contemporary ballet choreographer whose current works focus on crafting a new landscape for the ballet world. Her activism engages questions of gender, representation, and power, while her ongoing research highlights important complexities about the future of the dance field.

OVERVIEW / WHAT TO EXPECT

Waypoint Dance is offering a one-day dance workshop in NYC!

This workshop is intended for dancers who want to experience technical training in ballet, contemporary, composition and improvisation at the intermediate / advance level. We are excited to share our knowledge & experience through our pedological and somatic practices.

We look forward to uniting, uplifting, inspiring, and connecting with a new dance community! We hope to cultivate connections between pre-professional/ professional dancers, choreographers, and company members!

 

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

ELIGIBILITY

We welcome dancers who are:

Ages 16 up
Intermediate / Advance / Professional Level
Dancers of all backgrounds are invited and encouraged to participate
Available to participate for the entire day
