Certified Acro Teacher - Queens, NYC

 

Reports To: Studio Director / Education Program Coordinator
Location: MotionScoop Dance Academy in Maspeth, Queens, NYC

Position Overview:
We are looking for a certified, passionate, and safety-focused Acro Dance Teacher to join our teaching team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with beginner-level students, a commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment, and a vision for helping us grow our acro program for years to come. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who values community, student progress, and curriculum development.

Key Responsibilities:

- Teach engaging and progressive beginner-level acro dance classes for children and/or teens.

- Create a curriculum that emphasizes proper technique, flexibility, strength, and safety in all skills.

- Incorporate conditioning, spotting, and injury prevention into every class.

- Foster an inclusive, supportive environment where students feel confident to try new skills.

- Collaborate with studio leadership to develop a comprehensive and growth-oriented acro program.

- Communicate regularly with parents and students about progress and goals.

- Maintain a safe studio environment, ensuring all equipment is used correctly and kept in good condition.

- Commit to ongoing professional development and stay current with industry safety standards.

Qualifications:

- Certification in Acrobatic Arts or an equivalent recognized acro dance program (required).

- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching beginner to intermetidate and advanced, progressive acro dance technique.

- Strong spotting skills and thorough understanding of proper skill progressions.

- Excellent communication, patience, and classroom management skills.

- Commitment to safe, inclusive, and student-centered teaching practices.

- Long-term interest in building and expanding our acro program.

- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or interest in becoming certified).

Work Schedule:

- Part-time position starting with 3 classes on Friday evenings 4:30 - 8PM.

- Potential for additional classes and workshops as the program grows.

- Quarterly team meetings for check-in and Showcase preparations.

Compensation:

Pay based on experience, certification, and qualifications. Hourly rage: $30-50/hour, willing to negotiate for the right candidate.
