Position Title: Dance Teacher

Reports To: Studio Director 

Location: MotionScoop Dance Academy

Position Overview: We are seeking experienced and passionate Dance Teacher with expertise in Jazz and Contemporary/Lyrical dance to join our faculty this 2025-2026 school year! This role is ideal for someone who believes in the transformative power of dance and is well-adept at creating engaging lesson plans, and the ability to inspire and support students in their artistic growth.

Work Schedule: 

Wednesdays

Jazz, Level 1 (Ages 5-7) 5:45-6:30pm
Jazz, Level 2 (Ages 8-12) 6:30-7:30pm
Contemporary Lyrical (Ages 8+ Pre-Teen, Teens) 7:30-8:15pm

Classes are held at our studio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and teach engaging, age-appropriate dance classes in jazz and contemporary/lyrical.

• Create a supportive and adaptive learning environment that encourages participation, creativity, and self-expression.

• Implement various teaching methods, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approaches, to cater to different learning styles.

• Provide ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust lesson plans as needed.

• Attend faculty meetings as communicated by the MSDA team.

• Prepare and choreograph a piece for your classes for the end of the year recital in June.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Education or professional experience in dance.

• Candidates who reside in Queens (strongly preferred).

• Candidates with availability during Wednesday afternoon/evenings.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching dance specifically Jazz.

• Experience in developing lesson plans.

• Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and behavior management techniques.

• Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
