Norte Maar for Collaborative Projects in the Art announces a call for choreographers for its 13th annual season of CounterPointe: new work by women choreographers and their collaborations with women artists.

Performances are March 20-22, 2026 at The Mark O'Donnell Theater at the Entertainment Community Fund in Brooklyn. We are interested in producing a program which represents the cultural diversity of NYC. There is no house style, though the pointe shoe must be a part of the work.

Interested women choreographers should be based in the NYC-metro area, have experience of presenting work, and be committed to collaborating with a visual artist. If selected, Norte Maar will connect you with your collaborator; Norte Maar curates this pairing. You will have approximately 2 months to create a new work together. Choreographers and artists each receive a $700 fee.

Choreographers should be prepared to make new work alongside a collaborator. A goal of the program is to explore new artistic processes, taking chances with ideas in an environment that welcomes risk, and meeting new choreographers, dancers, and artists.

Additional details:
Choreographers are responsible for the selection, rehearsal, and pay of their own dancers.
In some cases there may be free studio space provided.

To apply:
Email a brief cover letter addressing your interest in collaboration, a CV, and links to recent choreography. This should include a link to work for stage (this is not a virtual program). Please also include either a link to show work on pointe or express why you are interested in working with or investigating pointe. We are interested in new ideas that interrogate the form.

Email to: nortemaar@gmail.com.    --Please do not email video attachments--

Selections will be made on a first come / first served basis, do not delay.
No submissions will be accepted after December 6, 2026.

Additional details:
Choreographers are responsible for selection, rehearsal and pay of their own dancers. In some cases Norte Maar may provide limited free or discounted studio space.

These new commissioned works shall not have been presented in the NYC/metro area within 2 months before or 2 months after the CounterPointe program. Future productions of these commissioned works should credit Norte Maar for Collaborative Projects in the Arts.
