Job Title: Dance Faculty - After School Program & Studio Jazz Teacher
(Part-Time | Now through June 17, 2026)

Organization:
ALDEN MOVES Dance Theater

Location:
Prospect Park South, Brooklyn, NY

At ALDEN MOVES, we invite students to adventure into dance—to discover the freedom of movement, the joy of creation, and the artistry of expression. Rooted in classical training and propelled by contemporary exploration, we’re reexamining and reinventing the institutional mold to move dance forward—and to show that dance, at its core, is more inclusive than exclusive.

Job Description:

We’re seeking a thoughtful, motivated, and creative dance educator to join our faculty in a combined role that includes teaching in our Dance Explorers After-School Program and leading Jazz Technique classes at our studio from now through June 17, 2026.

This is more than just a gig—it’s a chance to grow as an educator, artist, and leader within a mission-driven creative community. You’ll guide both exploratory and technical pathways for students, helping them gain confidence in their movement, fluency in a range of styles, and pride in their artistry.

All faculty must also be available to participate in our end-of-year show (June date TBD).

Schedule:
Tuesdays, 1:45–5:45pm – Dance Explorers (ages 5–10)
Thursdays, 4:45–7:45pm – Jazz Technique (ages 9–15)
Additional admin/planning hours may be available as the program grows

Communicate clearly with parents via email, flyers, and in-person conversations

Support students in performances like Dance Parade NYC and community fairs

Contribute to the Dance Explorers program as part of the larger ALDEN MOVES team

Jazz Technique (Thursdays):

Teach two back-to-back jazz technique classes for dancers ages 9-11 and 12+

Focus on expanding range of motion, refining style, and building technical strength

Develop structured class plans that support progression throughout the year

Emphasize mastery of style alongside musicality, technique, and performance quality

Collaborate with studio leadership on student placement, goals, and potential choreography

You Are:

A strong dancer and educator with experience teaching both young children and pre-teens/teens

Comfortable teaching both exploratory and structured, technique-focused classes

Versed in multiple dance styles, with particular strength in jazz forms

Creative, organized, and committed to seeing students grow

Proactive, punctual, and a clear communicator

Tech-literate or willing to learn (Google Docs, Canva, Sawyer, iMovie, Weebly, etc.)

Invested in ALDEN MOVES as a whole studio community, not just a single program

Compensation & Benefits: Starting at $30/hr for Teaching, Up to $20/hr for Admin/Planning
