Emcee / Director Assistant for 9-weekend Dance Competition Gig

Compensation: $325-$660/weekend - rate dependent on length of competition
Take advantage of this great, seasonal opportunity! Join On Point National Dance Competition for nine weekends of amateur dance competitions for youth ages 4-18. When a dance competition venue is set up the doors are opened and hundreds of dancers arrive with their talents and enthusiasm. Our competitions are alive with unmatched energy and excitement that lasts the entire weekend! On Point is seeking a talented, hardworking individual to join us in having fun and making memories with this year’s dancers!!
This is a part-time, seasonal, 1099 contract position. Please do not apply unless you are available all of the following 9 weekends – including Thursdays and Mondays:

The Emcee & Director Assistant is a multi-faceted role for an upbeat, multi-tasking individual who will report to and work alongside the Director. This is a fun job for an enterprising individual as you will be involved in many aspects of our productions. This candidate will be:
Friendly & Welcoming – This candidate will exude charisma and “personality plus” both on stage and off.
Welcoming studios, dancers and their families as they arrive and move about the competition.
Candidates will be comfortable introducing themselves to and interacting with individuals they are unfamiliar with. They will also be great, empathetic listeners as attendees will address their needs and concerns to them.
Interacting with the dancers and studio staff on stage during awards sessions.
Candidates will possess a youthful spirit/energy and enjoy working with children.
Interacting with the audience during awards sessions.
Candidates will be comfortable speaking on a microphone, on stage under the lights.
Interacting and working amicably and collaboratively with the both the Director, crew and judges.
Detail Oriented – This candidate will exhibit a willingness to learn several facets of On Point’s business.
Printing scores reports for the awards sessions. PC laptop proficiency is required.
The candidate will have above average attention to detail and the ability to recognize scoring anomalies, etc.
Reviewing the program to rehearse pronunciation, etc.
Organized & Proactive – Facilitating a “live” event requires the ability to manage all of the production elements simultaneously and cohesively with a smile on your face.
Establishing a comprehensive knowledge of venue set up and the work flow of several stations (Director’s table, critiques, sound, awards, and merchandise). Cross-training in these other roles will provide this individual with the ability to provide breaks for these positions including the backstage manager.
Overseeing crew members as needed.
Facilitating the ordering and delivery of staff meals; ensuring all staff members have their meal breaks.
Anticipating and troubleshooting concerns before they arise.
Meeting the specific and sometimes unexpected needs of each event.
Reliable & Responsible – This candidate will be an individual who is committed to being an integral team player for the duration of the season.
Picking up a rental car each week.
Overseeing and participating in the loading and unloading of production equipment at the warehouse and at events.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and based in/near Central NJ with the ability to travel from February through May. Many work weekends will include a Thursday departure and a Monday return. Applicant will have a driver's license and their own reliable transportation to On Point’s corporate office.

- Physically able to lift/lower equipment for load-in/load-out at corporate office and for set-up/break-down at each event
- Shared responsibility for driving company vehicles paid for by On Point
- Outstanding customer service skills. Must enjoy interacting with the public, especially children!
- Past dance convention/competition experience is very helpful!
