Hello Artists! SCDT is excited to announce this CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS for our Winter/Spring 2026 iteration of WIP.
About WIP:
The School for Contemporary Dance and Thought presents WIP (works-in-progress), a performance series that showcases developing movement-based works. WIP values sharing research and experimentation, rather than presenting finished works, and welcomes applications from emerging and established artists.
The curatorial team choosing WIP choreographers is composed of fellow dance artists that have presented at WIP and SCDT board members. We are looking to create performances showcasing a diverse range of established and emerging artists from both the local Western Massachusetts area as well as artists from throughout the Northeast. 

Timeline:
Applications Due:  Sunday January 11, 2026 by 11:59pm
All artists will be emailed about application status by late January. 
?Performance: Sunday March 15, 2026 at 4:30pm in The Workroom Theater at 33 Hawley St, Northampton MA
Eligibility: 
Works that are 10 minutes or under that would benefit from being performed while in progress. 
You will receive: 

A 15 minute tech (includes 3-5 cues)
Free access to our drop-in classes happening during the WIP performance weekend
A video and professional photos of the performance 
Feedback cards filled out by the WIP audience
