BANANA SLIPS

Open Call for Screen-Based Works

Curated Online Exhibition + Digital Edition + Global Circulation

A banana peel is small.

But it reveals a system.

ELSEHERE invites artists and cross-disciplinary practitioners to submit screen-presentable works for Banana Slips, a special edition presented as a curated online exhibition. We are looking for micro-disruptions: moments when structure falters, control slips, and reality briefly loses balance.

The smallest fracture can expose the whole mechanism.

Selected works will be featured in the Banana Slips Online Exhibition and the digital special edition, and will enter ELSEHERE’s long-term curatorial network for future programming opportunities.

1) A curated online exhibition

Your work will be presented in a focused curatorial frame, designed for international viewers and lasting access.

2) Long-term visibility through archiving

Selected works become part of ELSEHERE’s editorial and curatorial record, remaining accessible beyond the cycle.

3) Programming pathway

Artists featured through special editions are considered for future screenings, talks, collaborations, and cross-border programming as opportunities arise.

4) Clear credit + contextual care

We present work with proper attribution and concise framing, protecting the integrity of how your practice is seen.

What We’re Looking For

Works that hold a clear conceptual core and engage micro-instability in everyday life, including:

    •    Small disruptions and breakdowns in routine

    •    Structural drift, soft collapse, quiet failure

    •    Emotional or psychological missteps

    •    Social and institutional glitches

    •    Absurdity embedded inside control mechanisms

Critical, poetic, research-driven, and formally experimental approaches are welcome.

Scale is not required. One strong work with its own logic is enough.

Eligible Practices

We welcome submissions across:

    •    Experimental film and video

    •    Photography and moving image series

    •    Digital and web-based projects

    •    Performance/action documentation

    •    Sound works with a clear visual format

    •    Image–text hybrids

    •    Cross-media experiments

Works must be suitable for screen-based presentation.

Submission Guidelines

    •    You may submit up to 3 works

    •    For each work, please include:

    •    Title, year, medium/format

    •    Link(s) to view (Vimeo/YouTube/website/drive)

    •    A short context note (2–4 sentences)

We welcome completed works and clearly articulated in-progress projects.

What Selected Artists Receive

Selected artists will receive:

    •    Feature in the Banana Slips Curated Online Exhibition

    •    Inclusion in the ELSEHERE Special Edition: Banana Slips (digital edition)

    •    Promotion across ELSEHERE channels and partner visibility where relevant

    •    Priority consideration for future open calls, labs, and collaborations

Rights: Copyright remains with the artist. Presentation is non-exclusive.
