Jersey City Dance Academy Looking for Teachers for Immediate Hire

 

Jersey City Dance Academy located in Jersey City, NJ is looking to hire teachers for immediate hire for Early Childhood Creative Movement, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary classes. We are looking for a teacher to teach one or more of these classes now through our Recital on June 13th with possible continuation into summer and fall classes. Please see our class descriptions at the bottom of the listing.

Dance classes ranging from beginner to intermediate for ages 2-18.

Location: Jersey City, NJ-Parking on premises and accessible by Bus and Light Rail.

Program Dates: March 3rd-June 13th.

Duration: 4 months (possible extension into summer and fall classes)

Compensation: $40/hr.


* Must have a BFA/BA Dance or Dance Education Degree or be a current Dance BFA/BA Student
* Must love to work with children
* Be committed to teaching (not touring)
* Be amicable, prompt, punctual, reliable
* Be comfortable submitting to a background check
* Must have a minimum of 2 years of teaching

* Flexible and able to adapt to the needs and strengths of different groups of students and classroom settings, and are good team players.

* Comfortable creating a dance piece to showcase at the end of each semester to demonstrate what students have learned

Class Descriptions:

My Grown Up and Me ( 2 Year olds and their Grown Ups) Saturdays 9:45-10:30am (45 Minute class in 6 week intervals) All teaching materials will be provided. This class is about developing gross and fine motor skills and helping students learn independence. Each class encourages the development of imagination, strength and coordination through age appropriate play and music.


Tiny Tots (3 year olds) Saturdays 9:30-10:30am This is a 1 hour creative movement and pre ballet class. All teaching materials will be provided. This class will have two short recital dances.

Tap Level 1/2 (Ages 6-10) Saturdays 10:30-11:30 This is a beginner tap class. The students have a basic understating of the material. This class will have one recital dance.

Contemporary Level 1 (Ages 6-8) Saturdays 1:30-2:30pm. This is a beginner level class. The students have a basic understating of the material. They are working on small phrases that travel in and out of the floor as well as larger standing phrases. This class will have one recital dance.

Hip Hop Level 1/2 (Ages 6-10) Tuesdays 6-7pm This is a beginner hip hop class. Students are building rhythmic patterns and high and low level movements. This class will have one recital dance.

Tap Level 3/4 (Ages 11-16) Wednesdays 7-8pm. This is an Intermediate tap class. Some students are new to tap while others have a stronger background and understanding of the material. This class will have one recital dance. 


Hip Hop Level 3/4 (Ages 11-16) Thursdays 5-6pm This is an intermediate level class. They are building on across the floor and center combinations as well as some floor work. This class will have one recital dance.

Jazz Level 2 (Ages 10-12) Thursdays 6-7pm This is an Intermediate level class. Students are working on double pirouettes, complex formation changes, quick dynamic changes, and longer traveling combinations. This class will have one recital dance.

6 Week Workshops Saturdays March 21st-May 2nd no class on 04/04.

Intro to Dance (Ages 3-5) Saturdays 11:30-12:30. This is a creative movement class that helps children build fine and gross motor skills through imaginative play. All teaching materials will be provided.


Beginner Dance Sampler (Ages 6-10) Saturdays 12:30-1:30pm. This workshop introduces students to the basics of the following styles: Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. This class is for absolute beginner students.
