Battery Dance is a globally recognized dance organization dedicated to increasing human understanding, fostering social impact, and bringing people together across cultures though education, creation, and performance. With signature programs including the Battery Dance Festival, Dancing to Connect, and extensive arts-in-education work, the organization operates locally in NYC and in more than 70 countries worldwide.

Position Summary

The Manager of Operations is a senior leader responsible for ensuring the smooth, strategic, and effective functioning of all organizational operations. This role carries out day-to-day administrative needs, manages and supervises staff, supports financial and human resources processes, strengthens internal infrastructure, and enables staff, artists, educators, and partners to thrive. The Manager of Operations works closely with leadership to optimize workflows, steward resources, and align operations with Battery Dance’s mission and long-term strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities

Program Operations & Logistics

-Provide day-to-day oversight for the Battery Dance Festival, global programs, and education initiatives.
-Manage program logistics: scheduling, travel coordination, visas, production timelines, and on-the-ground operations.
-Collaborate with the Artistic and Education teams to ensure seamless execution of performances and workshops.
-Supervise and support operations staff, interns, and contractors.

Event & Gala Management

-Manage planning, coordination, and execution of the annual gala and other fundraising events.
-Coordinate event logistics, vendors, staffing, invitations, and on-site execution.
-Collaborate with development and marketing teams to maximize fundraising impact and donor engagement.

Organizational Operations & Administration

-Refine operational systems, policies, and procedures to support efficiency and growth.
-Manage daily administrative functions, including office management, scheduling structures, and workflow coordination.

Financial & Budget Oversight

-Partner with leadership on Budget development and tracking and financial reporting.
-Supervise accounting personnel to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
-Manage contract management, vendor relationships, payment processing, and compliance.
-Ensure adherence to financial policies and grant requirements.
-Collaborate with staff and development team to prepare grant applications and grant reports.

Qualifications

Required

-5–7+ years of operations, general management, arts administration, or nonprofit leadership experience.
-Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
-Demonstrated experience managing staff, budgets and cross-functional teams.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative leadership style.
-Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
-Familiarity with Microsoft Excel & Word

Preferred

-Experience in performing arts, cultural organizations, or international program management.
-Familiarity with NYC arts ecosystem and ideally global cultural exchange programs.
-Familiarity with Salesforce.

Compensation & Benefits

-$60,000 - $70,000 per year salary.
-$10,000 bonus after 1 year of service that could become permanent increase to salary.
-Monthly health insurance reimbursement
-Paid time off: 10 days vacation, 5 personal days, 5 sick days, and 11 holidays
