Arts Incubator for Change-Making
n/a
Artichoke Dance Company announces it's new year-long arts and activism fellowship program, the Arts Incubator for Change-Making, a year-long program empowering artists and cultural workers to be the community drivers of positive change.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Arts Incubator for Change-Making includes 40 hours of training, 20 hours of individual mentorship, and the presentation/production of participant’s work in a professional setting. This program is for artists working in any medium or genre and for cultural workers interested in integrating activism and community building strategies into their work with a focus on environmental justice and climate change.
Within the program, participants will explore approaches to eco-arts activism, actively work on aspects of their creative and/or social practices and build skills to support and sustain it, gain activism strategies, grow a partnership network, strengthen community fabric, and develop a project or an aspect of their career. Ultimately, participants will develop a project or presentation that can be shared at the culmination of the program, which can take form in many ways: sharing an artistic work or project, a presentation of process and/or outcomes from community based work, a participatory experience, or something else the participant conceives of.
PROGRAM TIMELINE:
June 22-26 - In-Person Intensive Program in Brooklyn, NY
July-December - Ongoing mentorship and training (remote or in-person)
December - Cohort meetup (Date TBD)
January-June - Continued mentorship and training
