PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Choreographic Academy is a multi-day intensive designed for emerging choreographers interested in both stage and film creation. Participants will be accepted into one of two cohorts:

STAGE Track — focused on creating choreography for live performance as well as compositional tools, choreographic development, rehearsal process and production elements.

FILM Track — focused on creating choreography specifically for the camera, thinking choreographically about the camera and editing, as well as deepening your understanding of pre-production, filming, and post-production considerations.

Summer Academy Mentors: Stacie Flood-Popp, Justin Conte, Erica Sobol, Destini Rogers, Soraya Lundy, Candace Brown, and Teddy Tedholm

Both cohorts train together at key moments, while also receiving track-specific mentorship, rehearsal structures, and creative outcomes..

Following the Artistic Development period, artists will take part in a guided pitch process, after which mentors will select a limited number of projects for creation. All artists, regardless of pitch outcome, will remain fully engaged throughout the Academy through movement classes, mentorship, and more.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Applicants may either: Complete all written questions OR Submit a video answering questions 7 & 8

Upon acceptance, all participants must submit: 1 headshot and 1 artistic “movement” photo or reel/video (for promotional use)
