Hi everyone,

I’m new to the NYC dance scene and wanted to introduce myself here. I’ve been training in contemporary dance for a few years, mostly in smaller studios, and I’m now looking to grow more seriously and connect with other dancers in the city.

I’m especially interested in classes that focus on technique, improvisation, and creative movement rather than just choreography-based sessions. I’m also hoping to find a welcoming community where dancers share feedback, collaborate, and possibly work on small performance projects together.

My main question is: what studios or programs in NYC would you recommend for someone who wants to develop both technical skills and artistic expression in contemporary dance? I’m also open to workshops, open classes, or any regular dance meetups that are beginner-to-intermediate friendly but still challenging.

Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Looking forward to learning from you all and hopefully meeting some of you in class or rehearsal spaces soon.
