Mentorship for Emerging Artists

Multi-hyphenate creative, radio (fka x sennyuen, x rance), is offering sliding scale packages for virtual mentorship with emerging artists of all disciplines, mediums, and approaches. 

In addition to their own unique artistic practice across painting, installation, and performance, radio is also an freelance curator (Dance/NYC Symposium 2022, B*tchin’ Heals presented by Experimental B*tch 2022-2023, VIRAL presented by Visual AIDS 2020) and arts panelist/reviewer (MAP Fund, GALLIM Moving Artist Residency, YoungArts, New Dance Alliance, Performance Mix Festival). In addition to securing grant funding and opportunities to share their own work, radio has had the honor of providing opportunities for artists to share their work and receive necessary resources for their practice. 

Below is a sample is radio’s current mentorship offerings:

----$25/hr Slow and Steady

Review and feedback on at least 1 artist statement/bio/website/CV/work sample (billed by the hour).
1hr meeting to discuss feedback, career goals, upcoming opportunities, and miscellaneous resources.
Follow up list of resources and possible action items provided.

 

----$100 New Beginnings 

5 hours to be used how you see fit, between synchronous meetings and materials review.   

 

----$350 Paving the Way 

15 hours to be used within 3 months.
Best option to receive review + feedback of multiple materials.
Best option for copy editing support.
Can also be used to focus on 1-2 specific artist grant/residency/fellowship/showcasing applications.
Suggested meeting first to discuss current practice goals and desires from mentorship.
Suggested materials review second.
Suggested follow up meeting after initial materials review.

 

----$500 Curating Life

Choose your own adventure! 
All above services @ $20/hr.
Package to be used within 6 months. 
Back and forth exchange across meetings and asynchronous communication (email, document commenting, messaging) encouraged.
Materials feedback, general advice, application support, virtual or IRL (NYC only) studio visits, resource sharing, and more. 

 

radio FKA is an agender, disabled, TRANSdisciplinary, conceptual artist of color who works primarily in performance and installation. Their work has been shown at Princeton University’s Lewis Center for the Arts, Dixon Place, Movement Research at Judson Memorial Church, and Abrons Arts Center. radio founded and led their company, {amdpc}, (2019-2021), with a self-produced dance-theatre production in October 2020 at Le Petit Versailles Garden. Selected accomplishments and artistic experiences include: Advocate in Residence (New Yorkers for Culture and Arts), Artist in Residence (Center for Performance Research), Creatives Rebuild New York (Artist Employment Program), AXIS Choreo-Lab Fellow, GALLIM Moving Artist Residency, Bronx Cultural Visions Fund (Bronx Council on the Arts), City Artist Corps grant, LiftOff Residency (NDA), and Disability. Dance. Artistry. Dance. Residency Program (Dance/NYC, Gibney), Artistic Fellow (Performance Project @ University Settlement). Their first full length solo show, high functioning x.0. premiered curated in the HERE Arts Center’s Sublet: CoOp Series in 2022. radio regularly experiments with new ideas through the incubator/festival series, Undiscovered Countries. Holding a BA in Theatre with minors in Dance and Art History from Ithaca College (c/o 2018), Fall of 2026, radio will begin their MFA in Dance at Hunter College.
