Backstage Chaperones & Stage Manager Needed

Dance Project of Washington Heights is seeking responsible, energetic, and organized individuals to help make our annual spring performance, A Blooming Future, a success!

This large-scale production features over 200 dancers ages 4–64 and takes place at the George Washington Educational Campus Auditorium in Washington Heights.

Positions Available:

Backstage Chaperones

Help supervise dancers backstage, assist with line-ups, costume changes, bathroom breaks, and ensure students are safe, calm, and performance-ready throughout rehearsals and performances.

Stipend: $200–$400, depending on availability and number of days worked.

Stage Manager

Work closely with DPWH staff and instructors to coordinate backstage operations, manage performance flow, communicate cues, oversee backstage logistics, and help ensure the production runs smoothly and on schedule.

Stipend: $1,000

Technical & Dress Rehearsals

Saturday, June 13, 2026 (all day)
Sunday, June 14, 2026 (all day)

Performances

Saturday, June 20, 2026
Sunday, June 21, 2026

All Backstage Chaperones must be available for at least one rehearsal day. Preference will be given to those available for both rehearsal days.

The Stage Manager must be available for all rehearsal and performance dates.

Preference will be given to Backstage Chaperones who can work all four dates.

 

Qualifications:


Backstage Chaperones

Responsible, reliable, and punctual

Comfortable working with children and teens

Able to remain calm in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Experience working with youth, camps, schools, dance, or theater is a plus

Stage Manager

Strong organizational and leadership skills

Ability to manage multiple moving parts simultaneously

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Experience in theater, dance production, stage management, event management, or related fields preferred

Comfortable supervising technical staff and coordinating backstage operations
