Schedule: 40 hrs/wk, weekdays & weekends
Hours: Flexible - includes early mornings/possible evenings or weekend day

About the Organization
The Paul Taylor Dance Company is one of the world's leading modern dance ensembles. Founded in 1954 by cultural icon Paul Taylor and now led by Artistic Director Michael Novak, the Company preserves a legendary 147-work repertory while pioneering the future of the art form through its Resident Choreographers. Based in New York City with an annual season at Lincoln Center, the organization has performed in over 600 cities across 66 countries.
The Taylor Center for Dance Education (TCDE) is the educational branch of the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Committed to providing high-quality instruction to students of all ages and levels, TCDE offers a pathway spanning from introductory classes to rigorous professional training across two NYC locations. The Center houses two youth programs, a teen performing ensemble, outreach programs, open classes for dancers of all levels, and a range of fitness offerings. TCDE employs a team of six staff members and approximately 60 musicians, teachers, and front desk personnel. 

About the Role
This role is central to the smooth day-to-day functioning of TCDE's drop-in class programming, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative systems, studio operations, and community engagement across both locations.

Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Client Experience
-Serve as the primary point of contact for drop-in students, faculty, and studio visitors
-Provide excellent customer service and support registration, check-in, and account inquiries
-Maintain a welcoming, organized, and professional front desk environment
-Guide clients through class schedules, studio policies, and procedures
-Utilize Mindbody software to check students into classes and manage drop-in class updates

Program Coordination
-Support scheduling and daily operations of open classes and workshops; maintain Google Calendar
-Coordinate instructor coverage and communicate schedule updates as needed
-Monitor enrollment trends and assist with class tracking and reporting
-Prepare and maintain class rosters, signage, and studio materials

Communication & Administration
-Draft and distribute timely communications regarding class changes, workshops, and events
-Support updates to the website and scheduling platforms
-Facilitate internal communications across faculty, front desk staff, and administration
-Maintain organized operational systems and records

Studio Operations
-Assist with opening and closing procedures and ensure daily studio readiness
-Coordinate studio rentals, special events, and community programs
-Ensure studios, common areas, and administrative spaces remain functional and welcoming
-Set up and break down studios between uses, including ballet barres, tables, chairs, and props

Financial & Operational Tasks
-Monitor and track payments to ensure client accounts remain current
-Assist with reconciliation and reporting for the cash box at Taylor Dance West

Community Engagement
-Cultivate a positive, inclusive environment for dancers of all backgrounds and levels
-Support community-building initiatives and participant retention efforts
-Represent the Taylor Center with professionalism, warmth, and a genuine enthusiasm for dance education 

Preferred Qualifications

 -Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Arts Administration or a related field
 -Minimum 2–3 years of experience in arts or business administration  
 -Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Airtable, Mindbody and Google Workspace; experience with scheduling platforms preferred
 -Excellent oral and written communication skills
 -Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion
 -Strong attention to accuracy, completeness, and timeliness in all work
 -Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
