CALL FOR MALE-IDENTIFYING DANCERS 
 

Trisha Brown Dance Company is seeking a male-identifying dancer to join the Company for the FY27 season as an understudy. The initial engagement will run from September 21, 2026 through the Company’s New York season in March 2027, with the potential to perform. The intention is for the position to continue through June 30, 2027, pending a March review. 

The Company will be reconstructing three proscenium works by Trisha Brown during this period. This dancer will understudy the repertory, with the possibility of performing. Rehearsal weeks are generally Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, with select weeks requiring alternate schedules and/or out-of-town residency availability. 

The ideal candidate is a highly attentive and detail-oriented dancer with the ability to learn, retain, and refine complex choreography over time. Strong partnering skills are essential, including lifting and supporting fellow dancers’ weight, along with a sensitivity to spatial awareness, timing, and the nuanced physical relationships central to Trisha Brown’s work.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2026 

The deadline to submit this application is Friday, July 24, 2026 at 9:00pm EST.  
Those selected to audition will be notified by Friday, July 31, 2026. 
 
Please note the application will be capped at 200 applicants.

The Trisha Brown Dance Company is dedicated to the performance and preservation of the work of Trisha Brown and projects related to her legacy. Established in 1970, TBDC has toured throughout the world presenting work, teaching, and building relationships with audiences and artists alike.

CALLBACKS: September 1-4 at Dance Theater of Harlem

February 16–20, 2027, out-of-town residency week

New York Season: March 15–21, 2027 

 
Compensation is based on a weekly salary of $1,102. Additional details regarding audition format, application requirements, and final engagement terms will be shared with selected applicants.
