What's it about? 
slowDANCE is partnering with choreographer Uila Marx to collaboratively produce their new work, Dear Young One (working title). The work is a love letter to and from queer youthhood, an address to the child self who lives in each of us. Among a bold celebration of color and sound, we’re asked to tune in and listen, to pause and honor the queer child whose needs went overlooked. Dear Young One uses joy and connection to explore the heaviness of a queer and trans history that has been deliberately concealed and misrepresented in the interest of "protecting children.” The project has been in development since 2022, and this full-length iteration will emphasize intergenerational community participation, formatted as equal parts performance, workshop, and community gathering, culminating years of teaching and research.

Who should submit?
- Experienced movement artists with backgrounds in improvisation, partnering, acting, and vocalizing
- Process-forward folks who are comfortable experimenting and collaborating
- People who identify as queer/trans and have an understanding of queerness as a lens for worldbuilding
- All racial/ethnic identities, gender expressions, and ages; queer and trans-identifying folks prioritized 

Timeline:
July 22 - Submission form due
August 5 - Audition invitations sent out
August 17, 4-6 OR 6-8pm - Workshop audition (NYC location will be sent with invitation)
September 11&12 (times TBD) - residency in NYC
September 13 evening - slowSHARE work in process sharing in Brooklyn
November - March - Rehearsals in NYC (to be scheduled based on cast availability)
March 2027 - Full premiere, 2-3 run show in NYC

Compensation:
- $500 rehearsal stipend (projected 30-40 hours total)
- $100/show day (2-3 shows)
- $15/hour - September residency (projected 8-10 hours)
