CALL for ENTRIES for J CHEN PROJECT’s Inaugural CORE CHOREOGRAPY COMPETITION (C3) at THE AILEY STUDIOS & THEATER.

Submissions to J CHEN PROJECT's 2019 Inaugural CORE Choreography Competition are now open.  Deadline: May 10, 2019. 

J CHEN PROJECT (JCP) is excited to announce a call for entries for our Inaugural CORE Choreography Competition (C3), to identify one emerging to mid-career choreographer who will have an opportunity to create an original work for the company to be presented at a professional theater for our NYC Season. 

Finalists of C3 will present a work of their choice at The Ailey Studios on Saturday, June 29, 2019.  The selected choreographer will be provided with a creative honorarium, 20 hours of rehearsal with the company during which they will have the opportunity to create and develop new choreographic material on JCP dancers.  JCP's Artistic Director will help guide this residency.  The new work will be premiered on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater.

JCP is a 501c3 non-profit modern dance company based in NYC, founded in 2008, exploring identity within the human experience through creation, performance, mentoring and inspiring young artists to share their voice.
 
SUBMISSION FEE:  There is a $40 submission fee

COMPENSATION:  Creative honorarium, 20 hours of rehearsal with the company, public presentation, and professionally filmed video and photos of the performed work.
