100 Years of Spanish Dance Music

Ensemble Suite Iberia will perform a free concert as part of Pregones’ MARCH IS MUSIC 2018 series. The Ensemble joins an elite group of artists presented by Pregones including Arturo O’Farrill Sextet and Popo Vazquez Quartet. Pianist Nelson Ojeda Valdés, Composer/Guitarist Paul Jared Newman, violinist Brian Ford, and dancer Deirdre Towers comprise the Ensemble Suite Iberia which will perform works by Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909), Enrique Granados (1867-1916), Joaquin Turina (1882-1949), Manuel de Falla (1876-1946), and two compositions by Paul Jared Newman (1952 - ). An initiative of pianist Nelson Ojeda Valdés, this program celebrating 100 years of Spanish music will be presented free in three boroughs - Manhattan as part of Sing for Hope series at Port Authority Bus Terminal on March 12, 3pm and at St. Edwards Church at 5th Avenue and 106th Street, on March 18th, 5pm; in the Bronx on March 25, 3pm at Pregones; and in Queens at The Church of The Redeemer, 30-14 Crescent Street, Astoria.
