Afro-Brazilian
Energize your body and spirit with Afro-Brazilian dance styles from northern Brazil such as Samba, Samba de Roda, Axé, Sambareggae, Afoxé and the dances of the Orixas. Learn about the rich Brazilian culture while developing fluidity and freedom in your body. Students will be led through a series of warm-up exercises that will prepare them for fun and dynamic sequences choreographed by Isaiah.
Isaiah Boyd
Isaiah Tyrelle Boyd is a California native who has had extensive training in modern, contemporary, and Afro-Brazilian dance. After years of Afro-Brazilian dance, Isaiah was invited to dance in Águas de Bahia Dance Company(SF) under the leadership of Tania Santiago where he made guest appearances in various performances. Isaiah has traveled to Bahia, Brazil to further his study in the dance techniques of the Afro-Brazilian people. The contemporary approach of his class is derived from the techniques of Tania Santiago. Using Afro-Brazilian movements coupled with contemporary styles to create a story that can only be told through dance.
