Ailey Extension Rennie Harris Workshop

With a special emphasis on “House” dance technique and foundation, this course is an advanced study of street dance.  The movement content of this course is reflective of Rennie Harris’ personal style, which has been shaped and inspired by teaching, choreographic and performing experiences in the field of Street dance. Inspired by Rennie Harris’ personal philosophy of self-discovery, students will leave with a fundamental House rhythm foundation and a working knowledge of rhythm, groove rhythm and movement.  In addition, Rennie Harris will contextualize street dance aesthetic and culture through personal stories, experience, and history, inclusive of but not limited to various styles associated with street dance, rooted in an Afrocentric approach to movement that is dynamic and fluid and rhythmically diverse in space Rennie Harris will focus on foundation rhythm that are rooted in the African American community at large.
