The Playground NYC allows dancers to experience various choreographic styles and ideas, engage with a new community of dancers, and gather resourceful information and inspiration from the array of choreographers involved. In turn, established choreographers are paid for their creative investigations, are given free space to explore new movement with professional dancers, and are provided with the opportunity to establish relationships with new dancers and fellow choreographers.

Join Boca Tuya’s first Company Intensive — a 5-day immersive experience led by Artistic Director Omar Román de Jesús. Train alongside company artists while exploring the physicality, musicality, and emotional depth that define Boca Tuya’s distinctive movement language.

Central to Omar’s process is the creation of surreal characters and cinematic worlds. Through guided exercises, dancers will transform physical choices into narrative presence, investigating how gesture, rhythm, and imagination shape characters that feel both theatrical and deeply human. Participants will explore how movement, environment, and atmosphere interact to build layered emotional landscapes.

More than a workshop, this intensive is a collaborative creative space where Omar will develop new material with participants, inviting dancers directly into his choreographic process while encouraging curiosity, risk-taking, and personal interpretation. The environment is intimate and focused, fostering meaningful exchange and an opportunity to engage with the Boca Tuya community.
