The Broadway Choreography Intensive (BCI) is a one-of-a-kind, two-week program designed to give aspiring Musical Theatre choreographers (ages 18-29), unparalleled access to training from Broadway professionals.

DATES: Saturday, July 30th - Saturday, August 13th 2022
LOCATION: Institute for American Musical Theater (IAMT) in Washington Heights, NYC and virtually

Week 1 (virtual) will be focused on interactive experiences via Zoom, including Q&As with professionals in the field.

Week 2 (in person) will consist of styles classes, unique choreographic challenges and exploratory exercises. Students will be mentored in the creation of their own 2-3 min piece.

Classes may include: Principles of choreographic technique, using dance to tell a story, interpreting scores and collaborating with music directors, master classes in original Broadway choreography, partnering, fight and intimacy choreography, how to talk to your costume designer, lighting for dance, strategies for working under pressure, discussions with agents, casting directors and union representatives, and how to run a room.
