Dance dramaturgy research in action workshop

We are looking for an experienced choreographer, who has familarity working with a dramaturg, for a laboratory workshop on dance dramaturgy held on Saturday, 27 June, 11.30 am – 1pm, as part of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas 30th Anniversary Conference (NYC). The research in action workshop (run by dramaturgs Katalin Trencsényi and Jess Applebaum) aims to mix dance laboratory and scholarship in an engaging investigation of the tools used for dance dramaturgy. The successful candidate will be further involved in planning the workshop.

We seek a seasoned choreographer, currently working on a contemporary project who would be happy to share his/her working processes with a wider audience of professionals. The plan is that he/she would bring 3-4 of his/her dancers to the workshop, and with their help the different stages of the creative process could be modelled and opened up for input from the dramaturgs in the room.

The collective goal of this workshop is two-fold: to give insight into the creative processes when making a new piece of dance and develop a vocabulary that can be useful for dramaturgs working with dance artists.

There is a small honorarium for the choreographer and the dancers for the session.
