My intermediate/advanced level contemporary dance class begins with a task-based warm up guiding the dancers toward full-bodied movement. Following this, more structure is incorporated moving across the floor to integrate imagery researched within the warm-up and introduce movement pathways used in the final phrase. The phrasework stems from Joey’s current choreographic research, which incorporates floorwork, stretch, and resistance. Throughout these sections, modifications are welcome and options can be provided.
