Creative Play & Performance with Larry Keigwin

Larry appears suspended in the air as he jumps with straight legs looking at the camera surrounded by dancers moving in pairs

Creative Play & Performance with Larry Keigwin at the Paul Taylor Dance Company invites pre-professional and professional dancers to explore the creative process over four dynamic sessions. Participants will hone their skills as collaborative artists, using improvisational and compositional tools in a fun, lighthearted environment. Learn to quickly excavate movement ideas with simple considerations of space, design, and narrative within a collaborative format. Infused with the athleticism and virtuosity of Keigwin’s signature approach, the class fosters a sense of play, helping students discover authentic movement while refining their technique. Each day will begin with a short warm up class followed by a creative process. The four sessions will culminate in a performance on Friday afternoon on August 8th.

Creative Play takes place from Tuesday, August 5th - Friday, August 8th from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Taylor Dance West, located at 307 W. 38th St., 9th fl, NY, NY 10018. Please use the revolving door to enter.

In a banner with text that reads: Dark Room Ballet Collegium 2025, there are 5 small images of each instructor: Shannon crouches on the floor holding a microphone with neon yellow/green tulle draped across their body and smushing their face. They speak/sing into the microphone with their eyes closed. * Hannah stands on a large rock in a mountain meadow, surrounded by wildflowers and tall pine trees. She stands with her left leg held straight and supporting her, while her right leg is lifted high to the side, nearly horizontal. Her left arm curves overhead, and her right arm stretches toward her raised foot, creating a diagonal line across her body. She wears leggings, a short-sleeve shirt, trail shoes, and sunglasses, with her hair in two braids. The sky is clear, and snow-capped mountains are visible in the distance. * A headshot photo of Davian
