DanceAction presents "To make a blindfold, measure the size of your head"

An evening of dance works inspired by social justice and political activism.

January 12 & 13, 2018 at 8pm

Center for Performance Research

361 Manhattan Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211

Tickets: $20 in advance/$15 students & seniors (with I.D.) in advance

$25 at the door (cash only)

The evening will feature the company’s latest piece, “2 Minutes Hate,” based on George Orwell’s classic novel 1984. In this work, the slogan of the party “War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength,” is translated into a movement narrative that includes live music and media projections. A short solo performance choreographed and performed by Carmen and original music by Martin Fuks will follow, inviting the audience to witness a creative journey between South and North America. The evening will conclude with the company’s trilogy, “To make a blindfold, measure the size of your head.” While making choices and moving blindfolded, the dancers will navigate a live structure inspired by the kidnappings and the political persecution in South America during the Dirty War.
