Charles Weidman Barbara Morgan

A program of rarely seen works by great modern dance pioneer CHARLES WEIDMAN will be presented Feb. 15 & 16 at the Scripps Studio Theater.  The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble will perform two Weidman classics: "Lynchtown" (1936) and an excerpt from Bach's Christmas Oratorio (1934), both staged by Gail Corbin; "Men's Dance" from "New Dance" (1936) performed by Paul Taylor Dance Company member Alex Clayton; and "Danse Americaine," performed by Nikolai McKenzie. The solo was created in 1923 by Ted Shawn for Charles Weidman while he was a member of Denishawn.
