This year's Summer Duncan Intensive workshop will be held at 92NY Harkness Dance Center, located at  1395 Lexington Avenue (between 91st & 92nd streets) New York, NY 10128

Driven by breath and fueled by momentum, Dances by Isadora’s approach to Duncan’s work unlocks a dynamic range of weight, flow, and expressive power. Led by Catherine Gallant (M/F) with longtime collaborators Francesca Todesco (Tues.), Loretta Thomas (Thurs.), and Marie Carstens (Wed.), you’ll dive into repertory rich with dramatic possibility and expansive physicality. A bold feminist and rule-breaker, Isadora Duncan revolutionized dance with a movement language that helped ignite the birth of modern dance. This workshop invites you to step inside that legacy — physically, viscerally, and creatively.

Together, we will closely examine the original choreography and artistic intent, then reimagine these works through a contemporary lens—drawing connections to today’s social landscape and personal narratives. Duncan once said that she never taught her students to dance but rather asked them to appeal to their spirits. In this spirit, we aim to renew and expand her vision of self-empowerment, infusing these historic works with 21st-century insight, energy, and purpose. Attend for the entire week or drop in.

Dates: Mon. July 27 - Fri. July 31, 10:30 am-1 pm
Fee: $35/day (full week $145)
