Learn percussion and Afro-Brazilian movement with Batalá, New York’s all women, Black-led Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble. This group class will break down the music you’ve heard Batalá play, step by step. Students will be guided in technique, body positioning, choreography, styling, performance strategies, and dynamics utilizing the drum as an extension of the body. All levels and genders are welcome; no prior musical experience necessary. Instruments and gear will be provided on a first come, first served basis
