GALLIM School of Movement Summer Intensive 2023
GALLIM School of Movement returns with our annual Summer Intensive.
The GALLIM Summer Intensive is a 6 day period of training, movement research, repertory studies, and creative process. Daily sessions include GALLIM Methods morning class, GALLIM repertory by Artistic Director Andrea Miller, The Creative Inquiry with Andrea Miller, improvisation modalities, and creative process with guest artist, dancer, choreographer and director, Kayla Farrish. Seeped in GALLIM’s principles of artistic creation, individual and collective inquiry and co-creativity, the GALLIM Summer Intensive invites you to deepen your individual artistic voice, while discovering new movement potential with movement artists from around the world.

GALLIM Methods
A practice of GALLIM’s technical and creative methodology, through a guided conversation between the body's network of systems and the imagination.
GALLIM Repertory: Sama by Andrea Miller (2019)

Kayla Farrish's Creative process is Inspired by content, meaning, feeling, and movement, “I strive to relate and transport through the work.”. Utilizing screenwriting, specific movement studies, writing, photography, and narrative, Kayla hopes to share a spectrum of the experiences of the others around them.
Faculty Bios: Andrea Miller is a choreographer, creative director, and the artistic director of world renowned movement production company GALLIM. A sought-after creator and collaborator for dance, film, fashion, and the visual arts, Miller is known for her exploration of the essential elements of human behavior and the alchemy of human expression through the medium of movement and performance. Miller is a Guggenheim, Sadler's Wells, New York City Center, and Princess Grace Fellow, and was featured in Forbes as an entrepreneur and leader in the dance world. Her visual art collaborations include a sound, sculpture, and performance installation for Lincoln Center featuring 25 community members processing the pandemic through breath, music, theater and dance, and works for Art Basel, Frieze Festival, and a film shared by The Guggenheim Museum.
Guest Artist: Kayla Farrish a NY based dancer, choreographer, director, and photographer. She is a North Carolina native born into a dance-loving family. Both independently and through companies, she has worked as a rehearsal assistant and teaching artist, instructing at various programs including University of NC School of the Arts, University of the Arts, The Juilliard School, NYU Tisch Dance Program, and local dance organizations, studios, and beyond.
Eligibility: GALLIM Summer Intensive is open to all movers ages 18+ who have a strong interest in training in GALLIM methods and GALLIM repertory by Andrea Miller. Rigorous physical training in class and GALLIM repertoire is a significant part of this intensive.

Tuition: $625
SCHOLARSHIP AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
There are two full Emergent Artist Scholarships for Black, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, Latino/a/x, and people of color artists available for this intensive.
Eligibility Criteria
This scholarship is designated for people who self-identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or Person of Color, including Latinx, Asian American and Pacific Islander, and multiracial.
This scholarship is intended for people possessing financial barriers that would impact one's ability to attend this intensive.
Selection Criteria
Strength of interest and calling toward deepening one's artistic process through this Process Immersion.
