Harkness Mindful Movement Meetups: GYROKINESIS®

NYU Langone Health’s Harkness Center for Dance Injuries is proud to announce its newest program, Mindful Movement Meetups. These affordable workshops will feature rehabilitative and somatic modalities to complement dance training, injury rehabilitation, biopsychosocial health, and more.

Mindful Movement Meetups aim to provide accessible exposure to a variety of modalities and instructors as well as an opportunity to meet like-minded dancers in a welcoming environment.

Description: The GYROKINESIS® Method coordinates breath and awareness through a sequence of rhythmic flowing movement using only a mat and chair. The GYROKINESIS® Method:

Addresses the entire body relying on your own proprioception
Opens energy pathways
Stimulates the nervous system
Improves functional strength and mental clarity

Instructor: DON FRIEDEWALD

Don Friedewald is a Specialized Master Trainer in the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods and co-founder of Union Square GYROTONIC® in New York City. Don completed a B.A. in dance and extensive study under system creator Juliu Horvath. Don is passionate about helping clients of all abilities find strength, fluidity, and physical comfort.
