Interdisciplinary artist, Jamal Abrams’ SAB & The Gatekeeper, honors the continuous conflict with self. Extracting our shadow from self and allowing its own origin story to develop. Abrams thinks of his shadow self (SAB) as his protector and guide sent to help him navigate. The performance explores the origin story of SAB. SAB is light, truth, and acceptance. Through fantastical world-making and experimental play. We get to the root of SAB’s biggest dilemma. Did I do this…….or did you?

Jamal Abrams performs as part of Harlem Stage's signature dance series, E-Moves. This year, Jerome Robbins Award-winning dancer and choreographer Stefanie Batten Bland curates the program that will feature three phenomenal dancers, including Abrams, whose works are inspired by the Black Arts Movement and presented as part six of their yearlong series, Black Arts Movement: Examined.
