Hindu Lamp Ceremony on the East River

Hindu Lamp Ceremony on the East River Chris Owyoung

Help Aeilushi Mistry bring peace and harmony to our shoreline as she performs the traditional Hindu Aarti ceremony at the Brooklyn Bridge Park

The Aarti ceremony is traditionally presented each morning and evening along India’s river Ganga.  It is performed in order to convey gratitude and protection from mother river. As we enter Hurricane season, please help us decorate palm leaf lamps and set them assail along the East River.  Audience members can participate in the traditional percussion ensemble with Paulom Mistry. Come and celebrate with us from 4pm -8pm along Pebble Beach at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. This program is presented by Indian dance arts educator Aeilushi Mistry, and cosponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.
