Hollis Bartlett & Nattie Trogdon In-Person NYC // Outside Class

Gathering Structures with Hollis Bartlett & Nattie Trogdon

Monday, June 21st at 11am-12:30pm

DESCRIPTION:
Together we will gather and practice; gather our bodies, gather our practices, gather what we need and what we want.  We will practice being our whole selves - practice moving into and through and with ourselves. We will practice feeling, questioning, and listening. Yes we will dance, we will sweat, shake and try out some old moves and some new moves. There will be technical exercises, improvisation scores, a little bit of anatomy, and maybe phrasework. We will hold space for ourselves and others - to check in on each other and attend to our deeply empathetic and resilient bodies, so we can continue to dance - to gather and practice.a??

BIO:
Hollis Bartlett + Nattie Trogdon are Brooklyn-based choreographers, performers, practitioners, and partners. They create dance works and research based practices around rigor and repetition, ghosts and vessels, weight (and wait), objectivity and subjectivity, lineage and their embodied relationship. They have been artists in residence at Gibney (Work Up Artists 5.0), Atlantic Center for the Arts, The Dance Complex, The Floor on Atlantic, and NYU Tisch Dance. Their performing and teaching practices are deeply tied into their dance making. Hollis has been with Doug Varone and Dancers since 2011, Nattie is a freelance performer, choreographer and arts administrator navigating the field since 2012, and together they instigate POP-UP Practice through freeskewl - a series centered around different ideas of embodied practice.
