Hi-ARTS and TRIBE present In-Practice, an intimate movement workshop led by award-winning choreographer and 2024 MacArthur Fellow Shamel Pitts. Grounded in Pitts’ 6 Step Program of Artistic Practice and Creation Process, the workshop explores how artistic methodologies shape rehearsal, creative collaboration, and administrative leadership within arts organizations. Combining discussion, visualization, and embodied movement exercises, participants will investigate physical efficiency, expressive range, rhythm, groove, stillness, and individual expression within a communal dance environment. Pitts will also demonstrate how these principles inform the rehearsal process of Touch of RED alongside dance collaborator Channce Williams.
