Kwento

Four women with their faces stacked ear to ear, one on top of the other Joe Raffanti

For its sixth New York season, Brooklyn-based contemporary ballet company konverjdans presents 'Kwento': three world premieres that tell different stories of love, loss, separation, and returning.

"Kwento" is the Tagalog/Filipino word for "story" - the word we use when we ask one another to recount our day-to-day experiences. After two years of separation, and with many stories to tell, we return to the stage with three world premieres by artistic directors Amy Saunder, Jordan Miller and Tiffany Mangulabnan. Each new work tells a different kind of "kwento" through narratives, abstractions, or vignettes: stories of friendship, love, loss, separation, and the ways in which we come back together.

All of the work will feature original costume design by Reshma Patel-Cline, lighting design by Conor Mulligan, and performances from dancers JoVonna Parks, James Anthony, Antuan Byers, and Peter Cheng, who will be joined by Mangulabnan, Miller and Saunder.
