Morning Class with Hilary Clark

Morning Class with Hilary Clark Paula Court

Morning Class with Hilary Clark

July 11, 13, 25, and 27

MON WED 10am-12pm

Edens Expressway (4th Floor)

We'll begin slowly with simple exercises and scores influenced by my ongoing studies in fascia and energetic and somatic modalities, then moving on to improvisations and set phrase material. We’ll consider methods and questions for ourselves around vulnerability, rebellion, ability and perceived lack of ability. This class is a supportive permissive space meant to deepen our practice and availability to our own work as performers. We will explore the body as our teacher and seek to better understand our choices, seeing the dancer as also a maker.

Hilary Clark dances with luciana achugar, Jen Rosenblit, Young Jean Lee Theater Company, Miguel Gutierrez and the Powerful People (2010-2014), and Tere O'Connor (2004-2011). In 2008, she received a "Bessie." Clark is a 2015 resident artist at collective address (NYC), to explore dancer to dancer exchanges and develop a new work. She has taught at Chunky Move, Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Pacific NorthWest College of Art, and Dancespace Center.
