Moving Spirits, Inc. celebrates 15 years of dance, storytelling and cultural preservation. This special 15th year anniversary performance honors the spirit and traditions of Black dance while reflecting on the company’s journey from its earliest NYC performances to its continued global impact through the arts of the African diaspora.

This anniversary performance highlights more than a decade of repertory that reflects the company’s commitment to honoring lineage while pushing creative boundaries. Audiences will experience works that center storytelling, spirituality, and social consciousness, continuing the company’s practice of using dance to bring awareness to injustices and uplift Black and Brown communities.

Returning to perform at Gibney Dance also marks a full-circle moment for the company, as the space once housed Dance New Amsterdam, home to one of Moving Spirits, Inc.’s earliest performances in New York City. This homecoming reflects the company’s deep roots in NYC while honoring the global reach of our work across numerous communities.
