Ndombolo Workshop | Afro Newstyle with BOMBASTIIK
Company: Cumbe Center for African Diaspora Dance
Venue: Cumbe Center for African Diaspora Dance
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Inspired by Ndombolo, a music genre and dance style from the DRC, derived from Kwassa Kwassa and Soukous. Ndonbolo is also popular in other African countries such as Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar. Accompanied by acoustic sounds – live congas, guitar and drums, Bombastiik is fusing this traditional style with Hip-Hop dance and Afro’House. It’s a unique and very dynamic mix of African Street and Social dances.
Internationally renowned singer, dancer and choreographer, Bombastiik, started his career in 2008 with the group Bana C4. In 2015, he began pursuing his solo career by organizing masterclasses, workshops and other events. Through his work, Bombastiik began to bring together many artists from France and beyond. He started to become a sensation on the Afro’Dance scene with his unique style and choreography, combining Urban dance with African Dance calling it Modern Afro (Afro Moderne). He created “Ma Folie Challenge,” a dance challenge that grew in popularity across social media, and was featured on BET France’s, “The Fantastic Minute (La minute Fanta’Stik)” . Over the years, Bombastiik has worked with and collaborated with many artists.
