Combining dance, live music, drama and beautiful costumes, Oyu Oro celebrates Cuba’s African cultural heritage and rich story-telling traditions. Oni Oni, a poem based on Afro-Cuban mythology, narrates the story of Yemayá – the owner of the oceans and mother of all – and her adopted son Changó, a warrior who rules over thunder and drums.

Presented by the CUNY Dance Initiative & Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture.
