PLAY is an evening of contemporary dance exploring joy, creation, childhood, memory, liminal spaces, and all the glorious messes in between. Each piece offers a unique lens into the playful and poignant aspects of becoming, remembering, and making art.

Featuring:

“Light” by Sarah Glick — A lively, improvisation-based work that blends games and choreographic scores to explore the connection between play, growing up, and artmaking. With curiosity and humor, Light investigates how we can create without taking ourselves too seriously.

“Pieces of Forgetting” by Alexis Vinzons —In the landscape of memory, a child meanders as a tree decays. A ghost finds solace in forgetting. A lover is housed in remembering.

“Kick” by Lillian C. Smith featuring the dancers of Smith & Co. — A contemporary ballet inspired by the choreographer’s favorite neighborhood bar and its regular characters. Whimsical, theatrical, and richly danced, it captures the essence of place, personality, and community ritual.
