PUBLIC

PUBIC is set under the 45 foot high vaulted archway of the Manhattan Bridge in DUMBO, Brooklyn. The archway, which reopened in 2009 after years of being barred from public use, provides a dramatic backdrop for the dances, which erupt from within and around the audience during this 40-minute performance that juxtaposes intimacy with bold audacity. Choreography is by Artichoke Dance Company’s Director Lynn Neuman. An array of music from electronic to classical is delivered on iPods/mP3 players and is available for free download at www.artichokedance.org. Audience members can also borrow a pre-loaded device. (A photo ID is necessary for this purpose and will be held in exchange for devise use during the performance.) This free performance is presented by the Brooklyn Arts Council and the DUMBO Improvement District.
