Chez Bushwick is eager to welcome back our first in-person audience, since 2020 for our upcoming August RECESS Performance, featuring artists David Norsworthy and Monét Noelle Marshall on Thursday 8/19 @ 7:30 pm EST. Seating is limited, so RSVP asap.

About RECESS with Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation:

RECESS is a monthly salon space where both works-in-progress and established pieces can be shared in an intimate setting. Innovation. Experimentation. Deep dives. Creative reviews. It’s all welcome here! RECESS is a safe space for exploration and forging new artistic connections. It’s an opportunity to engage performers, patrons, artists, and audience members in a night of performance and creative dialogue

About the Performance:

Elusive Truths is an arrival in time, an intersection of questions, and an invitation towards radical honesty that aims to bridge the space between David Norsworthy, Monèt Noelle Marshall and those that come to witness. Situated in the realms of dance and theater, the event revels in the nuance of ever-changing aliveness and the complexity of constantly shifting realities. It plays in the ambiguity of paradox and, sometimes, delights in the levity of dishonesty. How can we dis-entangle ourselves from forces that distort truth? How can we tune our bodies to the frequencies of our deeply embodied, ancestral, intuitive truths? Musical/sound offerings by Omar David Rivero, also known as Driftnote, will be present as this work-in-progress unfolds.

The performance event is emerging from Talking with Strangers, a research and choreographic creation project led by David Norsworthy with the support of Culture Mill / North Carolina Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts.
